The radiater has an intercooler that is controlled by the truck operater. 1) isolated system - the engine is cooled by the coolant and fan only. The ALF 700 has 3 modes of engine cooling. It should have no trace of engine coolant! Check engine radiater for coolant. INSPECT the water when you drain the pump. Note - if the pump has not been used in a while, fill with water and let sid for a few days, to allow the leather seals to absorb water and seal effectively. NO CARBON CORE! Carbon core wire has too much resistance and will cause cross firing in the distributer cap - VERY expensive to replace. YOU MUST use WIRE core wire, such as Packard 440. It can take up to 10 hours to do it right, and even more if ign wires need to be changed. Engine takes 8 quarts unless you change filter, then it can take up to 10 qts. Change oil at 500 miles, or 1 year, which ever comes first. If you put detergent oil in the engine, you risk running loosened debris thru the bearings! DO NOT use multigrade oils. This engine does not filter oil to the bearings! It merely takes oil pump bypass pressure and dumps it thru the oil filter and back to the pan. Some hints: Use SAE 30 NON detergent oil, unless the engine has been boiled out and rebuilt. ALF used several carbs, and they function differently.
